All Loumousey Products are Original Designs, made in small batches by Lou Hart in her West Sussex studio, using high quality cotton yarns, eco stuffing and sustainable packaging.
Loumousey designs can be bought as already made items, or in kit form. Lou is working hard to convert all of her current work into kits, and hopes to have the full range available in 2025.
About Amigurumi Crochet: Amigurumi means “stuffed doll” in Japanese, which is where this form of crochet originated. The yarn is worked in rounds, spiralling, adding or taking away stitches using a hook to create forms, In much the same way as a 3d printer, but much slower!
Lou`s inspiration:
“As a child of the 70`s I was exposed to the wonderful, homespun children’s TV of the time. Programmes such as Bagpuss, The Clangers, and Fingermouse fascinated me. I tried to recreate them using old sheets and things I found, but I couldn’t quite manage! Like most children, I had a Special Toy; “Pony”, was beautifully knitted and I knew every stitch of him intimately. I believed him to be alive, and he was a true friend. I taught myself to crochet in 2018, and soon discovered that I loved working in 3 Dimensions. Once I had mastered the basics, I started to freestyle and soon found myself making up my own designs.
The business has gradually evolved into designing and making kits, so that others can share in my passion for cute, original, quirky little makes! I originally began making hooks for my own comfort, and soon people started asking to buy them, and so this has become another love of mine, as I really enjoy creating canes and producing colourful ergonomic hooks.”
